Method and limits
Occurrences count every match. Verses count each matching verse once, even when the word appears several times. Books are ranked by occurrences, with an option for canonical order.
KJV defaults to whole words, ignoring capitalization. The possessive endings 's and ’s count with the word; hyphen-joined forms such as God-ward are excluded. Phrases must appear within one verse with single spaces between words (repeated input whitespace is collapsed); intervening punctuation breaks the phrase. Word beginnings also matches longer words, so faith finds faithful. All input is literal, never a regular expression.
CUV counts exact, non-overlapping character sequences, without word segmentation. Inline 〔…〕 translator notes and […] speaker labels are removed; their matches are reported separately. Single characters also match inside compounds. Verse numbering differs in a few chapters: links always use the selected corpus’s own references.
English words are not the same as Hebrew or Greek source words. This KJV corpus has no italic markup, so supplied words are counted like other words. Frequency does not establish a word’s meaning in context.
