Reflection
Scripture names loneliness without shame. In David prays, "Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate." Feeling alone is not a failure of faith; it is a prayer the Psalms already taught God's people to pray.
God answers first with his presence. promises that he goes before you and "will not fail thee, neither forsake thee," and in Jesus says, "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you." goes further: even when father and mother forsake you, the Lord takes you up.
Then he answers with people. says God "setteth the solitary in families." His care often arrives through a church, a friend or a neighbor, and it usually needs one small step from you: a message, a visit, a seat at a table. If loneliness has turned into hopelessness, tell someone today and reach out for help.
Prayer
Lord, I feel alone, and you know how heavy that is. Thank you that you go before me and will not leave me. Turn toward me and have mercy. Open my eyes to the people you have placed near me, give me courage to take one small step toward them, and set me in a family of your people. Amen.
Pause and consider
Read aloud, then send one short message to someone you have not heard from in a while.
